Mercy Flight is an local, independent, not-for-profit provider of emergency and non-emergency air and ground medical transport and supporting services; ensuring rapid, safe and cost effective delivery of expert response teams. Established in 1981, they have safely completed more than 31,000 patient missions and over 100,000 ground ambulance patient missionsover the last 40 years. They provide around the clock care servicing all of Western New York, Northwestern Pennsylvania, Canada and beyond.

With their headquarters located in Buffalo and several bases strategically placed throughout Western New York, they are mission ready to handle any situation that presents itself and are ready to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Bell 429 is the current helicopter Mercy Flight operates. The helicopter purchases were made possible with community support and donations, a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture and special, long-term financing through M&T Bank. It is a twin engine IFR capable aircraft with a cruising speed of 180 miles per hour and increased patient care space relative to our other aircraft. It offers both side and rear patient loading while also having a faster start up and shut down period allowing for safer transfers of patients and crew members to get in and out of the aircraft.
